House of Modernity: creativity in the absence of London's Art and Design week
The absence of London’s annual art and design week with PAD and Frieze on hold has prompted some incredible displays of creativity.
One of our favourites is House of Modernity. Adrian Sassoon and Modernity Stockholm directors, Andrew Duncanson and Isaac Pineus have collaborated to co-curate an exhibition at their London showroom at 14 Cavendish Square.
The two international dealers have presented a curated display that stages their signature collections side by side within the interior of a battered Palladian mansion.
The result is an elegant and refined space that would also double as a dream interior. Art, furniture and craft works shine in the strung out grand domestic backdrop.
Contemporary ceramics, glass and metalwork from Adrian Sassoon’s impressive list of international artists are pitted side by side with Modernity’s design classics from Nordic makers and designers such as Hans Wenger, Finn Juhl and Barbro Nilssson.
Highlights include work by British ceramicist Kate Malone, contemporary artist Felicity Alylieff, Danish glassblower Tobias Mohl and Japanese artist, Hitomi Hosono.
London House of Modernity until 28 October 2020 at 14 Cavendish Square, London W1G 9NU.
