From Mocha Mousse to Ox Blood: Graphenstone paint shades that will transform your space
According to Graphenstone’s Besty Smith, deep red browns such as ox blood are a major trend in interiors for 2025, taking the lead from the fall catwalks - from Gucci to Erdem and Hermes. Dramatic and earthy, it works best with pinks and a pop of citrus yellow and is a more sophisticated take on red.

Betsy Smith tells the BBC, “What’s important to me when using paint colours is to see how they interact. Two colours can enhance each other and have greater impact. The lighter wall colour here is dusky pink that sits elusively between a dusty earth, cocoa powder and mulberry. Graphenstone paint gives the impression of being powdery. You can almost imagine running your fingers along the walls and the paint coming off like dried earth in your hands. Deeper tones look great on woodwork which is offset on the image below by a vibrant red lining on the inside of the bookcase. It adds a pop of colour.”

Unconsciously we are always drawn to pink and brown shades because on a primitive level they reflect colours found in the soil - earthy and grounding. A richer take on brown and mocha mousses ox blood and burgundy reflect a desire to surround ourselves with comfort but with a sophisticated edge.
