This year marks the 100th anniversary of Lalique’s manufacturing operation in Alsace, a town surrounded by the forests that once supplied the wood that kept molten glass kilns burning. With around 400,000 pieces made by hand each year, it is a craft business with skilled artisans that are some of the finest in France with an aesthetic that is ‘so original, inventive and transcendent’ writes the FT - much of which stems from founder, Rene Lalique.
