Knots Rugs will host an immersive and interactive workshop during London Craft Week with collaborator Nat Maks (above), the Margate based marbling artist who will also launch her first book on the subject at the event during London Craft Week on Tuesday 14th May from 5pm – 9pm at Knots Chelsea Store.
Nat Maks first book Paper Marbling: Learn in a Weekend published by Thames & Hudson will also launch during the evening with the artist signing copies. In the book, Nat expertly guides readers through every stage of this versatile craft from the initial preparation right through to stand out finished pieces such as the collaboration with Knots.
Paper marbling has been listed as an endangered craft by The Heritage Crafts Association. Artist Nat Maks is constantly striving to innovate and reimagine the ancient art, not only preserving it but making it relevant and accessible for the future by applying it to a range of mediums. Knots Rugs recently collaborated with Nat Maks on a collection of seven wool and silk hand-knotted rugs which were translated from her original artworks.
